How Does Trade History & P/L Tracking Work?
Every time you exit a position, the trade is permanently recorded with full details — entry/exit dates, prices, shares, P/L in dollars and percentage, hold time, and exit reason. You can view all your closed trades on the Trade History page, filter by monitor or symbol, sort by any column, and export to CSV.
1How It Works
- •When you exit a tranche (via stop, take profit, or manual exit), the system automatically saves the trade to your history.
- •Each trade records: monitor name, tranche number, ETF symbol (long/short), entry date & price, exit date & price, exit reason, P/L ($), P/L (%), and hold days.
- •The Trade History page shows a sortable, filterable table of all your closed trades across all monitors.
- •Summary stats at the top show total trades, win rate, total P/L, average return per trade, biggest win, and biggest loss.
- •You can filter trades by monitor or by ETF symbol to analyze performance by strategy or asset.
- •Export your filtered trade data to CSV for spreadsheet analysis or tax reporting.
2Example
Reviewing Your Trade Performance
You've been trading for 3 months. Your Trade History shows:
Summary Stats:
• Total Trades: 12
• Win Rate: 66.7% (8 wins, 4 losses)
• Total P/L: +$1,847.50
• Biggest Win: +$620.00 (TQQQ, held 14 days)
• Biggest Loss: -$310.00 (SQQQ, stopped out after 3 days)
You filter to see only your TQQQ trades:
• 7 trades, 71% win rate, average hold: 9 days
This data helps you understand which setups work best and refine your approach over time.
3Common Questions
Are trades recorded automatically?
Yes. Every time you exit a tranche through the dashboard (whether by stop, take profit, or manual exit), the trade is automatically saved to your history. No manual logging required.
Can I see trades from before this feature was added?
No. Trade history records are created going forward from when the feature was enabled. Previous exits that occurred before the update are not retroactively recorded.
How is P/L calculated?
P/L ($) = (Exit Price - Entry Price) × Shares. P/L (%) = ((Exit Price - Entry Price) / Entry Price) × 100. Both are calculated automatically at exit time.
Can I export my trades?
Yes. Click the "Export CSV" button on the Trade History page to download a spreadsheet-compatible file with all visible trades. Filters apply to the export.
Does this affect my Realized P/L on the dashboard?
Yes. When you exit a position, the trade P/L is added to your monitor's cumulative Realized P/L, which is shown on the dashboard. Trade History provides the detailed breakdown of how that number was built.
Technical Notes
- —Trade history is stored in a dedicated TradeHistory database table, separate from active tranche data.
- —R-based data (initial stop, R value, TP price) is snapshot at exit time for historical reference.
- —The Trade History page is accessible from the sidebar navigation in the dashboard.
- —CSV export includes all columns: dates, prices, P/L, hold time, exit reason.
